Idea #43:
At restaurants, consider asking for ice water, which usually is free or nearly free. At restaurants that offer "take-out" service, consider buying only food (no drink) and eating it at home...
Idea #149:
Treat "junk mail" sales pitches with skepticism, or even suspicion. With few exceptions, companies sending you this mail are spending a lot on postage, envelopes, marketing research, etc. They pass these costs on to you...
Idea #166:
For those who want to visit national parks in the United States, the National Park Service (http://www.nps.gov) offers savings through the "America the Beautiful" program, which allows many visits for a flat fee...
Idea #209:
Look for “motivated sellers,” especially on big-ticket items like cars. (A motivated seller is someone with a special reason for wanting to sell.) Examples: the seller is unable to make their loan payments or the seller indicates that they “must” have a newer, better or faster car.
Idea #251:
Occasionally, try to look at any money difficulties you might have from a "fresh perspective." In other words, if you have a nagging financial problem of some kind, try to look at it in a new way. As an example, if you have trouble paying your housing costs, it's possible that: (1) you have a spare room that's rentable, (2) you could afford your housing costs if your utility bills were lower, or (3) you simply can't afford to live where you're living.
Idea #98:
Lemon juice can be used to add a lot of flavor to food and drinks for very little money. If you drink a lot of cola, you might want to try adding about one teaspoon of lemon juice and some water to each cup, creating a soft drink that tastes good but that costs much less per serving. (When you pour the soft drink into the glass, fill the glass only about three-fourths full. Then add the lemon juice and water. Experiment with these quantities to suit your own taste. Some people will want to add a little sugar.) You can choose to do this only sometimes... If you use the method described above, you could save about as much as if you paid 25% less for the product.
Idea #103:
Those who use conditioner after shampooing can save when they begin using a very tiny amount of it. The key is to leave the conditioner in your hair rather than rinsing it out. For most people, a bead that's about the size of a pearl will work fine.

Idea #272:
Consider using online "freecycle" websites. These are sites where users give away and/or exchange items that might have otherwise been discarded as trash...
Idea #26:
Avoid going to the grocery store when you're hungry, because you’re more likely to buy more than a sensible amount of food. Hungry shoppers also are likely to buy more expensive items (like single-serve snacks)...
Idea #86:
Consider a return to simple products that have been available for fifty years or more. These include many familiar products like vanilla wafers, popcorn, ginger snaps, aspirin, gelatin, etc.
Idea #135:
Consider anything that you collect on a regular basis, such as coins, movies, music, etc... Then, think about whether you spend reasonably on the items, or if you may have, over time, increased your purchases to a level that isn't justifiable. Key points to consider...
Idea #169:
When traveling, plan to visit free sites. Many state and federal parks, for example, are either free or require a small fee compared to the cost of commercial attractions.
Idea #176:
Consider closing heating and cooling vents to any room that is not used, or is used only rarely...
